Thread: Need help with SSH on Local Server (XAMPP)

I need help with self signed SSL certificate on my local server.
I use XAMPP for my local server and just installed openx. Planning to use the program as an ad server for all my sites.

The thing is, when I went to dashboard, it says I need https access for it to be working. So, I am looking for a way on how to install self signed ssl cert on my xampp server?

I even can't connect to localhost using putty (SSH)

I follow the tutorial and I have generated a self signed cert for my computer.
However, when trying to browse https://localhost, it still gave me the same error.

localhost:443 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
The certificate expired on 12/4/2006 11:11 PM.

(Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate)

hmm.. I don't know much about security certificates myself. Isn't there a way to generate one which isn't expired? Maybe you have to reboot the computer afterwards?

Dunno, I check the certificate which I generated and it has valid date.
Clear my cache and its still there.

i dont think XAMPP enables SSH support for local host? I could be wrong though

XAMPP does has ssl support.

But most of the browsers would not recognize your self signed certificate
